Meet the Poet: Lenna Jawdat

Join us at WordPlay on Sunday, August 23, from 2:00-3:00PM for an informal meet-and-greet with Lenna Jawdat–a poet, writer, and psychotherapist based in DC. Lenna will chat with guests and sign copies of her debut poetry collection 70,000: Poems, which was inspired by the removal of approximately 70,000 books from Palestinian homes and private libraries before and during the events of 1948. 70,000 is a hybrid work of poetry, memoir, and visual art that draws on Lenna’s experiences as a therapist and reflects on historical and current events in Palestine. The book has received numerous accolades since its release in early July and was chosen by the American Booksellers Association for their Summer/Fall 2026 Indies Introduce list and their July 2026 Indies Next list.
